About the Dojo
The Sandstone Bujinkan is a Shibu sponserd by Shihan Ethan Capers of Mizu Nagare dojo in Brooklyn Park. A Shibu is a satellite training group, led by a student of the dojo who has been sponsored to teach by the Dojo-Cho (head of the dojo).
Shibu-Cho (Group Leaders) are sponsored with the full confidence of Shihan Capers, and, along with the students of the Shibu, return regularly to the parent dojo in the Twin Cities.
Rank and other official paperwork is handled through the parent dojo, until the Shibu-cho becomes a Shidoshi (licensed instructor).
About the Bujinkan
"The simplest is always the most difficult." -Hatsumi Sensei-
The Bujinkan was founded by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, the Soke (Grandmaster) of the Bujinkan and it's nine schools of Ninpo and Budo. These nine schools represent almost 1000 years of living Martial Arts tradition.
Training encompasses a wide range of techniques and philosophies developed by the Samurai and Ninja of ancient Japan. Each of the nine schools are traditions of “Jissen Gata” which means real fighting forms, but unconventional skills of scouting, spying and commando assault were also used by many political leaders and generals in the struggle to unify Japan over 500 years ago.
Taught in a noncompetitive and fun environment, students learn valuable and practical self protection and survival skills.
